And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.
And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.
And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bow shot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.
And God heard the voice of the lad ….” (Genesis 21:14-17, King James Version @ biblegateway.com)
In clip below, Joel speaks to “today,” the “blood-soaked floors” of Israel’s unique present hour. What’s more, that which Joel states is, since May 14th, 1948, Israel’s darkest hour to date: 7 October to date …
As always, God’s promises, as I often have stated, as the Hebrew Scripture attest to, God’s promises to the Children of Israel are certain.
Those good, enviable, desirable.
Those promises of evil and certain horror, should Israel reject God; scrub, as it were, the soles of their shoes on his claim, “I am,” do the same, even more so, to his claim of Israel, “I am the Lord thy God”; the evil, the horror then promised, chilling, horrific, snapshots-7-October-like, and-then-some …
Not that God’s hand would bring that evil on Israel, but that which would overtake Israel if and when God’s hand of blessing and protection of Israel was withdrawn and withheld from her.
But the promises of good, certain, pined for, enviable …
Joel speaks to God’s unfailing love of Israel and promises to her. He likewise speaks to God’s love for the Palestinian people. Speaks of the need for loving and praying for the deliverance of the Palestinian people. Deliverance from the evil Islam, and those who practice it, is over them.
Prayer, compassion, love, in other words needed for Hagar’s children, as the verses cited in the opening of this post speak of.
In concluding, Jesus said, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending … which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty …. I am … the first and the last” (Revelations 1:8, 11).
He further declared, “Behold I stand at the door and knock; If any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me….
“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith ….” (Revelations 3: 20, 22).
“What good is it,” Joel tables, if Jews relish in the notion of having a Jewish nation and country, yet all the same rush headlong in a handbag, as it were, to and through the gates of hell.
He tables the reality of the matter of 7 October: God, once more, reaching for his chosen. God once more, through his love for Israel, through his certain promises to them, as said, promises of good, promises of evil should they forget him, reject him; through all that, 7 October was God aiming to speak to all humanity.
God, again, claiming for a moment, if you will, control of the global big screen. There stating, there showing, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any man …”
“If any man …”
As in if any Israeli, if any child of Hagar, if any American, if any Ethiopian, et al., “I will enter in to him.…
“He that hath an ear, let him hear …”
